Artist Anon Brings Brighton's Urban Edge
Local Heroes Initiative welcomes South Coast streetwear brand in partnership with Lone Design Club
Artist Anon has opened a pop-up shop at Churchill Square, bringing authentic South Coast style through Churchill Square’s Local Heroes Initiative in partnership with Lone Design Club. The homegrown urban apparel brand offers Churchill Square visitors a fresh alternative to mainstream fashion with clothing that captures Brighton's distinctive creative energy.
Artist Anon delivers urban apparel with a distinctly Brighton twist, offering fashion-conscious consumers an alternative to corporate American branding. "Everyone needs a little Brighton in their wardrobe," reflects the brand's mission to celebrate the unique character of England's South Coast through clothing that embodies the city's coastal spirit and creative culture.
With a uniquely British perspective on urban designer wear, Artist Anon reimagines American So Cal and vintage aesthetics through Brighton's vibrant cultural lens. The brand champions local creativity over mass-market corporate fashion, demonstrating the distinctive appeal of South Coast design.
"This partnership perfectly embodies what makes Brighton special – that creative, independent spirit that sets our city apart. Artist Anon captures the essence of Brighton's unique character and brings it to life through fashion that truly represents our vibrant South Coast community" said Mark Buchanan Smith, Meeting Place Manager.
The Artist Anon Story
Founded in 2012 from a spare room driven by frustration with the lack of UK-focused urban wear, Artist Anon began with handmade prints sold at local markets and festivals. The brand has grown steadily while maintaining its core mission of celebrating Brighton culture.
Artist Anon's evolution showcases remarkable growth: from operating out of a seafront arch in 2014 that doubled as studio and shop, to expanding in 2016 when increasing demand required separating production from retail space. Today, while 80% of production is handled by independent UK printers, all design development remains in-house to preserve the brand's authentic creative vision.
Churchill Square visitors can now discover Artist Anon's distinctive urban fashion while supporting local creativity and adding South Coast flair to their wardrobes.
